Porsche Takes Green Auto Industry By Storm At 2010 Geneva Show
You know it's a sign of the green car apocalypse when historically performance-based automakers like Porsche dedicate an entire press conference to its alternative propulsion future.
Porsche President and CEO Michael Macht lead the Porsche's 2010 Geneva show press conference, decked out in his green tie and kerchief. He announcing not one, but three vehicles. Macht calls it "a new chapter in the history of the company," and he's not exaggerating.
Porsche's evolving philosophy is called "Porsche Intelligent Performance," and while you can debate the intelligence of the new direction, you can't argue with the performance of the trio of vehicles on the show stand: the Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid, the 911 GT3 Hybrid, and the stunning 918 Spyder mid-engine supercar concept. The trick with the next-generation of Porsches will be to make them as sporty and dynamic as ever, while lowering emissions and increasing overall efficiency at the same time.
